New to Yoga?

Tips to help you get ready for your first class.

Showing up is the biggest step! Yoga is a practice. Every time you show up to class you will get something out of it. Whether it’s a great stretch, learned a new pose, or made a friend. I love the saying “I wish I hadn’t gone to yoga…” said nobody ever.

Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early class. This gives you time to check out the space, locate the bathroom, and meet the teacher. You may want to share with the teacher any physical limitations you have or that it’s your first class.

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. You don’t need expensive or name brand clothing; just clothing that will move with you and not distract you because it’s too tight, too loose, or too skimpy.

Eat a light protein snack about 1 ½ to 2 hrs before class. Bring a water bottle to class.

Bring a yoga mat. Some studios have mats that you can borrow. Many studios provide blocks and straps and other props.
